When it comes to reversing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, many lotions and creams proclaim that they can help you look younger and refreshed.

But, for many people, this leads to nothing more than frustration, as many of the lifting creams and anti-wrinkle products have the price tag of a high-quality product, but not the effects to back it up!

This is where non-surgical facial aesthetics come in, specifically Botox and dermal fillers.

At Chelsea and Fulham, we are proud to be able to offer our patients a range of procedures to help with facial rejuvenation Chelsea, and we will be able to advise you on the most suitable product for you.

In this article, we will discuss one of our most popular facial rejuvenation Chelsea options; dermal fillers. So, read on for a quick guide!

What are fillers?

Dermal fillers, or hyaluronic acid fillers, are used to add volume to the skin and smooth out wrinkles. They are typically made of synthesised hyaluronic acid. This is a substance that occurs in the body, and is injected into the dermis, the deeper layer of the skin. Some common areas treated with dermal fillers include the cheeks, lips, under the eyes, and around the mouth. They are also used to enhance the shape of the jawline and cheeks and provide a non-surgical facelift, making them an efficient and preferable type of facial rejuvenation Chelsea for many of our patients. The effects of fillers are not permanent and typically last between 6 to 18 months, depending on the type of filler used.

Applying dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are typically injected into the skin using a very fine needle. The needle is inserted into the desired area of treatment, and the filler is injected in small amounts. The process usually takes only a few minutes and is relatively painless. A numbing cream can be applied before the treatment to minimise discomfort.

Our team will then massage the treated area to ensure that the filler is distributed evenly and to achieve the desired shape and volume.

Aftercare for the first 48 hours

To help them set in place (as they can move around), you will need to avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 to 48 hours after the treatment, as it can increase blood flow to the area and cause swelling.

You should also avoid drinking alcohol, as this can increase blood flow to the area and can cause the fillers to move.

To reduce swelling and discomfort, apply cold packs, sleep with your head elevated, and take pain relief that does not thin the blood.

Aftercare in the long term

Caring for dermal fillers long term will depend on the type of filler used and the area treated; at our surgery, we use hyaluronic acid or HA fillers.

You should use sunscreen with a high SPF to protect your skin from UV rays, as these can be damaging to fillers. You should avoid smoking and excessive drinking and maintain a healthy diet. This will help to prolong the effects of the dermal fillers and also help your skin to look healthier for longer.
