In this short guide, our team explores Botox in Chelsea with a bit more depth, allowing you to decide if it is the right treatment for you.

Why might you want botulinum injections?

Medically, there are many applications for Botox in Chelsea.

As the toxin works by paralysing the nerves, it can be used to treat a myriad of ailments, such as chronic migraines, excessive sweating and even issues with spasms in the muscles caused by nerve damage.

Cosmetically, it can be used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines under the skin, by paralysing the nerves that allow the underlying muscles to contract, thus deepening the wrinkles.

But, to achieve this correctly, you will need to find an expert in facial anatomy who has the appropriate training to apply these injections, which is where our team at  the practice comes in!

What they can correct

Understandably, these injections can correct a range of aesthetic issues across the face and neck.

Most commonly, they are used to correct crow’s feet that occur in the corners of the eyes, the ‘11’ that appears between the eyebrows, horizontal lines across the forehead and other lines that are caused by pulling facial expressions such as frowning, smiling and looking worried.

It can also reduce the appearance of lines that occur on the neck as we age; horizontal lines and vertical lines or skin protrusions, which are more common in people who have recently lost weight or exercised a lot. With the application of the injections, these lines and protrusions will reduce, creating a smoother-looking neck.

Application

Botulinum toxin is applied just under the skin using a very thin needle.

While we cannot stipulate whether you will find this uncomfortable, if you have concerns that you may find the sensation unpleasant, we can use a numbing gel before we inject them.

The entire process is very fast, and depending on the number of injections, can easily be completed in 30 minutes or less.

Longevity

Overall, these injections have a lifespan of around 2 to 4 months; if you are new to having the treatment, then the first-time application may have longer effects than any injections that follow.

The longevity will also depend on your age at the first application, and lifestyle factors such as smoking, drinking alcohol or exposure to the sun, all of which can shorten the impact of the injections dramatically.

Reapplication

Generally, our team will aim to reapply these injections every 6 months, but we may review this based on your clinical needs and aesthetic goals.

As mentioned before, subsequent injections after the first set of treatment may not have the same effect and thus, we may need to apply more botulinum with each application to achieve the same results.

If you would like to discuss how often you should receive these injections with our team, please call us for a consultation today!
