Recently, I had to take my beloved car to the garage to have it fixed. The idea of being without my car made me feel unnecessarily anxious, especially considering most places I frequent are within a 2 mile radius of my home….including the practice!
I was overcome with joy and jubilation as the lovely lady over the telephone informed me that I would, in fact, have a courtesy car that was the same make and model as my own, and that the balance of the universe would all be restored, and I swear I even saw a unicorn pass my window at that very same moment!
It made me realise that this unnecessary anxiety must be akin to what people feel if they need a tooth temporarily replaced whilst waiting for final restorations.
People having treatments such as implants, veneers, crowns and dentures may need temporaries in place for varied time frames, and we often get asked (in horror) ‘will there be a gap mid treatment?’.
We wanted to reassure you that temporaries are really nothing to be anxious about. They are robust and can often be a good way to test drive your new smile.
