invisalign-in fulham

Unless you have been living under a rock, chances are you have heard about adult orthodontics at least once in the last year.

With the different types of aligners being worn by celebrities and Royal family members alike, these braces are everywhere and are being used to straighten the smiles of countless adults and teenagers around the UK. So, if you are an adult who wants to straighten your teeth, you may now be searching on your phone or computer for a nearby dental surgery who can offer them to you!

However, while the fitting process of most of these braces is quite straightforward, the day to day wear is often different for many people, which can impact on how successful these braces are at correcting misalignments.

At Chelsea and Fulham, our team has helped many patients get the straighter smiles that they want using braces like Invisalign in Fulham. Of course, we have also helped a great number of patients manage the daily aspects of this brace which can, at first, be a bit jarring.

So, to help you decide if Invisalign in Fulham is for you, our team has answered the following questions about the daily use of this brace. Enjoy!

Can I take it out?

Yes, you can.

But our team will advise you to only do so for a maximum of 2 hours per day to ensure that it has the required time to work. Those 2 hours have to include the consumption of your meals, your snacking, the twice-daily brushing of your teeth and other occurrences where you may not wish to wear it.

So, while you wear this brace, you will live by the clock!

Can I drink alcohol while wearing this brace?

This is a yes and no answer; you cannot drink alcohol while the brace is in your mouth but if you aren’t wearing it, you can.

While wearing Invisalign in Fulham, you should only drink water but when you aren’t wearing it, you can drink alcohol, coffee or whatever you want to. Just be sure to brush your teeth afterwards before putting it back in your mouth.

What about keeping it clean- is it hard?

This brace is made from malleable, clear plastic, so it is very easy to clean.

Simply rinse it under a cold tap to remove debris and voila! Do not clean it with hot water or mouthwash, as these can cause warping or staining.

How can I prevent it from getting stained?

As each brace is worn for around 2 weeks, it is unlikely that any of them will stain.

However, avoid wearing the brace when you consume sugary beverages, coffee or wine and do not clean it with mouthwash- all of these can stain the plastic, making it more noticeable.

What can I take if it starts to hurt?

If this brace hurts, take over the counter pain relief such as paracetamol or ibuprofen. If the discomfort is distracting, contact our team for an immediate review.
