What is Invisalign?

How it works
Consultation appointment
Before we provide you with any aligners, we will start off by having an in-depth consultation with you at our clinic. This consultation is vital in ensuring that the treatment is right for you because, without it, we would not be able to tailor the treatment to your needs, and your teeth wouldn’t be straightened properly, which would cause an array of problems.
During this consultation, we will do a thorough dental health check to ensure that Invisalign Chelsea is the right treatment choice for your teeth. We will also take 3D scans to get a clear, detailed image of your teeth, which will influence the creation of your aligners. The 3D scanning technology can also simulate what your teeth should look like at the end of the treatment, which has been really exciting for our patients to see.
Using the aligners
If all goes well during our consultation with you and you decide to go ahead with the treatment, the 3D scans will be sent off so that your custom-made aligners can be created. We will then invite you to our practice for a quick appointment, during which we will give you your aligners and show you how to wear them.
We will provide you with multiple aligners at once, and you will need to wear each one for around two weeks before changing to the next one. This process should be repeated until your teeth have reached the desired positions. Our patients will typically start to see results within 6 to 18 months, and during this time, they only need to visit us every 4 to 6 weeks for checkups. Our patients have really enjoyed the process of this treatment because it doesn’t disrupt their lives too much, the aligners are comfortable to wear, and the results are effective.
Once you have completed the treatment and are enjoying your new and improved smile, we will highly recommend that you wear a retainer. We can provide you with a custom-made one, which will prevent your teeth from naturally moving back to their original positions. By using a retainer and making sure that you regularly brush and floss your teeth, your results can last a lifetime.
