How to receive Invisalign treatment
If you would like to undergo Invisalign treatment with our experienced team here at the practice, you will first need to come in for a consultation, so we can discuss the factors that are affecting your smile and whether or not these can be corrected using Invisalign. A three-dimensional scan of your mouth will be carried out and this will help us show you the process of moving your teeth to achieve a neatly aligned smile. Once we are in agreement that Invisalign is the correct treatment for you, you will need to undergo a full examination of your teeth and gums to make sure that it is safe to move your teeth. We will then use your scan results to have a series of aligners individually manufactured for you and within two to three weeks we will receive these aligners and ask you to come into the practice for an initial fitting. After this you can work your way through the aligners in the comfort of your own home and we recommend that you visit us every 4 to 6 weeks to make sure the process is coming along successfully.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign works using a series of removable, clear thermoplastic aligners which are individually tailored and manufactured to help move the position of your teeth. Each aligner will move the position of your teeth by 0.25 to 0.3 mm. The aligners need to be worn in your mouth for around 22 hours of the day for two weeks and then you move onto the next aligner in the series. These aligners are comfortable to wear, almost invisible in the mouth and highly convenient, as they can be taken out and put back in your mouth when necessary.
